Beacon Tower - Entrance Reception

Client: HSBC Pension Fund / Project Value 500k

“Bringing a city-centre office entrance into line with occupiers expectations.”

Relocation and upgrading of the entrance reception for one of Bristol’s best known office buildings to bring it into keeping with expectations of a modern city-centre office.

Works and Challenges

The existing entrance reception to the building was located on a mezzanine to the side of the property, which required relocation and upgrading. We demolished an existing underground car park entrance and removed the reinforced concrete ramp. The car park entrance was then relocated, a new ramp was cast in situ and a new automatic roller-shutter door was installed.

Inside the building, we installed a new glazed screen, an automatic pass revolving door, concrete steps and platform lift. External walls were removed to create more internal space and glazed curtain walling was installed. Ceramic tiles were laid in the reception area and soft floor coverings at balcony level where new meeting rooms were constructed.

We had to maintain a high level of security during the project, while ensuring access for staff and visitors. Noisy works were done out of hours, while deliveries and waste removal were scheduled to avoid peak commuting times around the busy central location.
