St Michael’s Hospital- Neo Natal Intensive Care

Client: University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust / Project Value 1.1m

“The project involved the construction of new offices within the existing first floor light well, the phased demolition of blockwork walls and complete refurbishment, alteration and fit out of the existing Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU unit had to remain in operation throughout the works.”

Works and Challenges

The works were carefully phased so the surgery could remain operational. Because we were working in a small area, close daily liaison between BDH staff and our project foreman ensured that patients and staff weren’t inconvenienced and the project programme was maintained. It was also essential to liaise closely with specialist X-ray equipment installers and phase their equipment deliveries to synchronise with our works.
